TAKEN! => Character sheet

Karkat Vantas

Age: 16 years old

Raised in the low district, Karkat always felt different. His neighborhood was filled with grownup trolls brooding over Alternia and how it felt different to live on Prospit. These trolls had different blood colors but were, for the most part, high bloods unsuccessful at adapting to Prospit and having life too low for them. These trolls tried to recreate alternian hierarchy in the district and had every troll identified by their blood color. Karkat, with his mutant blood, was considered as an outcast. It didn’t prevent him from making friends among young trolls who never lived on Prospit. However, Karkat has always been traumatised by this rejection. He took the habit to hide his blood color to anyone, even to his friends.

He went to a regular school in his neighborhood. Despite his angry demeanor, Karkat found faithful friends among the trolls of Prospit. When he was young, he met Gamzee who often wandered in his neighborhood. At first, Karkat was really hostile to that weird troll. However, after a while, they became friend. Growing up a little, he met Terezi and Kanaya. Interest-wise, Karkat is pretty fond of romantic literature, an interest he shares with his friend Kanaya.

Karkat was often bullied by the older trolls who knew about his blood color. He was always fighting with Terezi, who was infuriated with the injustice. He thought her ideas of equality were stupid and useless; he was convinced that she wouldn’t change anything by starting petitions and that her protests, regrouping twenty carapaces or so, were grotesque.

Karkat was mad at Prospit’s royalty and resented humans for a long time. Until he met Jade, at the age of thirteen, he was convinced humans were assholes and that trolls had to find a way to get rid of them. After a while, Jade convinced him that even if the destruction of Alternia was a tragedy, it was a new start for those who, like Karkat, were oppressed by the hemospectrum. That on Prospit, everyone was equal and that the hemospectrum domination would be annihilated. After that, Karkat’s faith in humans went up and he actually became friend with Jade.

That’s when he started beliving in Terezi’s ideal. To see that the rulers were actually trying to do something restored some faith in Karkat’s heart. It let him longing for equality between trolls. He was convinced that the hemospectrum was obsolete in this new society.

Karkat’s life changed when he heard about the Condesce’s conquest of Derse. This had absolutely no sense. On the purple planet, lowbloods and carapaces died everyday because of a highblood who wanted too much power for herself. That’s when Karkat had enough and made a leader of himself. He took Terezi’s ideas and created an undercover organisation. They were fighting for the equality of trolls, for the complete destruction of the hemospectrum hierarchy. Prospit’s laws were cute but they didn’t do much. They had to hit at the right place: the highbloods. The second thing they were fighting for was the deliverance of Derse. The sea dwellers had gone too far and had to be stopped. Trolls had to fight together to stop this abomination.

Karkat had no idea Terezi was mad at him for being a hypocrite. He would probably had denied it all the way.

His first move was to send PM on Derse with documents regarding the uprising. Karkat wanted to inform the trolls of Derse that they weren’t alone to fight. He gave PM vague indications because he himself didn’t know how to identify the right troll. When PM came back, he read the letter Nepeta had sent him. After that, he kept sending her new information for her to distribute on Derse. She was her spokesperson.

After a while, all kind of people joined his rebel organisation; trolls, carapaces and humans alike wanted to put an end to the injustice.

TAKEN! => Character sheet

Terezi Pyrope

Age: 16 years old

Terezi grew up in the High district, in a neighborhood where there weren't a lot of trolls. The few other trolls who lived there were pretty young, and most of them didn't really remember how it was back on Alternia. Because of this, Terezi grew up peacefully, without having to bother about her blood colour or the hemospectrum. She also didn't know how some of the highbloods treated other trolls in some neighborhoods. Her guardian was a language teacher in a school of the High district. Obviously, he liked to read a lot and was a very cultured carapace. He owned a lot of books, which he kept in a rather large library in their house. Before Terezi started school, he used to read books to her, even though he thought she couldn't understand the content. However, he didn't have any books for children, so he read books about justice and politics to her, and that's probably where her sense of social activism came from.

When she was about 5 years old, Terezi met a troll named Vriska, who lived in the Low district. She liked to play games of make-believe with her, in which she impersonated important persons from her guardian's books. Together, they liked to go on long walks around Prospit, and that's how she met another one of her friends, Tavros, a troll who lived in the same neighborhood as Vriska. Sometimes, while exploring, they really got in trouble. One time, however, was worse than the others. They were playing with a ball that Vriska had found somewhere, and it turned out that the ball was actually a handmade grenade, which ended up exploding in Terezi's face. She spent a week in the hospital, but the doctors couldn't do anything for her; she would not retrieve the use of her eyes. The few weeks that followed that accident were pretty hard for her. She especially missed being able to look at the words when her guardian read books to her. One night, she had a dream in which a dragon had taught her how to see using smells and tastes. Since then, she was able to see partially, using the way the dragon showed her. Because of her accident, however, she never went to school. Since she was blind, it was rather useless for her to go. However, she learned how to read by herself, and with the help of her guardian.

When she was a bit older, she met Karkat, a troll who lived in a neighborhood in which there was a lot of highbloods and older trolls. That's when she was really confronted with the reality of the hemospectrum for the first time. When she visited her friend, she often noticed how different things were in her neighborhood and how even he, sometimes, was bullied by other trolls. At first, she didn't quite understand why it was like that, but, having a strong sense of justice, she didn't like it. She then studied the history of Alternia as well as she could. There weren't many books on it, but she talked to other trolls and carapaces about it until her thirst for knowledge was satisfied. That's when she started making actions in order to change things. She believed that the way the highbloods treated the other trolls wasn't fair, and the fact that the government wasn't reacting simply infuriated her. She then started petitions and protests, even if not many people joined her cause. Karkat even mocked her about it, saying it was useless.

Because of this, when the Condesce took over and Karkat suddenly decided to start a rebellion, she was a bit annoyed. She thought he was being hypocrite, but that didn't stop her from joining his organisation. She's obviously strongly against the Condesce, and she does anything she can to help the rebellion, sometimes giving insightful advice to Karkat, whether he wants it or not.

Vriska Serket

Age: 16 years old

She grew up in the low district but her cerulean blood made her life easy. Like Karkat, she lived in a neighborhood were highbloods tried to reinstall the hemospectrum domination. However, she had the good end of the stick. In that ambiance, she grew up thinking really highly of herself and regarding lowbloods like inferiors. She longed for more than she had. She heard the grownups talk about the people of her tribe who were rich mercenaries. She dreamt of adventure and treasures. Her quiet life in Prospit’s low district was not good enough.

Vriska had, since her younger age, telepathic powers. She was able to control her guardian carapaces and make her do whatever she wanted. She sometime controlled other trolls who didn’t do as she pleased.

She made some friends she liked to push around because she didn’t know how to express her affection. She met Terezi, a troll from the high district. Together, they explored every inch of Prospit and played make-believe. The two really got into trouble sometimes. She also met Tavros and Kanaya who lived in the same neighborhood as she did. They were also attending the same school. Kanaya was more of an indoor kid so she didn’t really play outside with them. She liked to hang out with them but only when they were not getting dirty. But Tavros was different. He liked to invent stories like Vriska. But he was the kind to stop before getting into trouble. Vriska always bullied him around because he was shy and hesitant.

When she was 5 years old, Vriska was playing with Terezi with a ball she found somewhere. What Vriska didn’t know was the ball she found was a handmade grenade that ended up exploding in Terezi’s face. After spending a week in the hospital, it was clear that Terezi would not retrieve the use of her eyes. It was an accident so Terezi wasn’t really mad at Vriska.

When they were seven, Vriska and Tavros went in the slums to explore. They ended up near the garbage pit. Vriska ended up “convincing” Tavros to jump in the pit, in which he broke his legs. Tavros spent a long time in the hospital as well.

When questioned on what happened, Vriska answered: “He kept saying he wanted to fly!” It was clear that Vriska was responsible for that accident. Some highbloods congratulated her about her action. Her friend Kanaya was mad at her and refused to talk to her for a while. Tavros was rather resigned after that. He was afraid of her, with reasons. However, after some time, he kind of forgave her.

With the troll rebellion going on, Vriska had a choice to make. With her cerulean blood, troll equality was not in her priorities. However, all her friends are part of it so she kind of tag along... but her heart’s not really into it. She does it for the thrills of the fights to be expected.

TAKEN! => Character sheet

Tavros Nitram

Age: 16 years old

Raised in the low district, Tavros was a happy kid. He didn’t have a problem with living on Prospit and never worried with the grownups’ complaints. Tavros took a liking in fairy tales written by Prospitians. His guardians would often read him bedtime stories about fairies, magicians and adventure. He also liked animals and to play with marbles.

Tavros made friends in the low district. He met Gamzee the wandering child; together, they had friendly rap show off. They developed a strong bond. Tavros also met Kanaya and Vriska who were from his neighborhood and school. Vriska liked to adventuring and took Tavros with her around Prospit in sometimes dangerous adventures. Kanaya preferred indoor activities but they still had fun together. Tavros also met Terezi who was friend with Vriska. They got along fairly well.

Tavros was often bullied by Vriska who said she did it to help him improve his self confidence. When they were seven, they went to the slums to explore, like they often did. They ended up near the garbage pit and after an argument, Vriska “convinced” him to jump in the pit. After he jumped, she let him there. Unable to move, he stayed there for a long time until the carapaces responsible for collecting garbage found him in the pit. They immediately brought him to the hospital where he had to stay for weeks.

It turned out that Tavros had not only broken his legs but he was paralyzed for good. The head of the hospital arranged things for Tavros and his guardian to move in a bigger house in the high district with accommodations for his new condition. He was also given a wheelchair to help him move around Prospit.

After the accident, Tavros was so afraid of Vriska he refused to see her. His other friends came to visit him in the high district. Tavros learned how to live without his legs. He sometimes had difficulties with the architecture of Prospit; stairs were everywhere.

It was a given that Tavros would participate in the troll revolution. The leaders were for the most part his friends and he would have felt bad not to help them. All in all, he believes that the revolution’s ideals are right. He doesn’t like the hemospectrum and thinks every troll should be equals. As a lowblood, he was often victim of discrimination. The reaction to his accident proved it; some highbloods congratulated Vriska for her action... some would even go as far as to wish out loud, in front of Tavros, that she would have killed him for good. Definitively, troll equality would be a good thing for him. However, he lacks the courage to stand for his opinions.

TAKEN!

Kanaya Maryam

Age: 16 years old

Kanaya was raised in the low district. At a young age, she chose her toys based on how they looked. She was really drawn to aesthetic in all kind of ways. She was only 3 Solar Sweeps old and asked to decorate her room herself.

She had a few friends on Prospit: Tavros and Vriska, trolls from her neighborhood and school. She was not interested in playing outside and exploring like they did but when they agreed to play calm games with her, she was happy to have them around. She was also friend with Karkat who lived a little farther in the low district.

When she was old enough to explore Prospit alone, she wandered in the high district where she found the tailor’s shop. She was in awe in front of all those pretty clothes she couldn’t afford. Closer to her house, she found the book store where she discovered a new passion: romance novels involving rainbow drinkers.

The accident involving Tavros and Vriska made her really mad. She was sad that one of her friends used her powers to hurt the other... and she was mad that Vriska showed no sign of remorse. However, after a while, Kanaya started to admit she missed hanging out with Vriska and she eventually forgave her.

Her guardian was not really wealthy but he always gave Kanaya a few coins from the allocation he received for raising her, so she could spend them the way she liked. She bought books from the store but when she was eight, she started buying fabric from the tailor to sew her own clothes. She had always been envious of the royalty who could wear pretty dresses. The fabric she could afford was nothing like the one royalty wore but Kanaya was happy with it. Her sewing skills improved really fast.

At the age of thirteen, she went to the tailor with all the clothes she made and asked to be hired. The tailor was really impressed that a troll that young could have such skills. He decided to hire her part time at first to make sure she wasn’t messing with him. It turned out she was really skilled and the tailor never regretted his decision to hire her.

When Karkat started his rebellion plans, she was eager to help him. She had always found the barbaric the ways the highblood treated other trolls. Kanaya doesn’t know that her lusus back on Alternia was a virgin mother grub and that she held the Matriorb which is now in the Condesce’s possession. However, if she finds out, she might want to retrieve the Matriorb; in fact, she might even have a role to play in its hatching.

Gamzee Makara

Age: 16 years old

Gamzee grew up in the Low district, in a neighborhood in which there weren't many trolls. He was raised by a greedy carapace who cared more about his monthly allocation than him. However, "raised" is a bit of an over-statement, because Gamzee spent most of his childhood alone, so much that he practically raised himself. His guardian was, most of the time, away on Skaia to illegally gather resources he could sell at the market afterwards. Because of this lack of supervision, Gamzee developed a few bad habits. For instance, he hardly ever went to school. He's naturally very laid back and has a bit of a short attention-span. He often spaced-out on his way to school and, without anyone to remind him, sometimes even forgot to go altogether. He managed to learn basic reading skills, but even now, he doesn't know how to write properly.

Because he often didn't go to school, he had a lot of free time. So, most of the time, he just took long strolls around the Low district and surrounding neighborhoods. That's how he met his closest friends, Tavros and Karkat. He and Tavros quickly bonded over their taste for rap, and Gamzee kept visiting his friend even after he got into an accident and had to move to the High district. It was more difficult with Karkat, though. At first, it felt like their friendship was pretty much one-sided and Karkat usually just yelled at Gamzee to go away. It got better with time and a lot of persistence. Karkat still insults and yells at him, but he doesn't tell him to leave anymore. Gamzee sometimes hangs out with Terezi, since she's Karkat's friend, and he gets along with her fine. He also got to meet Vriska through Tavros, but he doesn't really like her and he's actually a bit scared of her.

Once, his guardian was away longer than he usually was and Gamzee ran out of food. He looked in the house for something that he could eat, but the only edible thing he found was a medicine. His guardian kept bottles of tiny caplets made of a special slime that could be found in swamps on Skaia, and that could cure headaches and stomach aches. Gamzee had to feed on these for a couple of days... which was enough for him to develop an addiction to it. Taking a too large quantity of medicine is never good, but this specific kind of caplets could have harmful effects and it did weird things to Gamzee's brain. He has yet to get rid of this addiction, so he stocks up on caplets at the apothecary every once in a while.

When Gamzee was 10 years old, his guardian was arrested and convicted for illegal import of Skaia's resources. Gamzee then had to meet a social worker. He was however allowed to live alone, since he was judged old enough to take care of himself. He was given a job at the post office, so he could provide for his needs. He had to sort mail and sometimes stamp envelopes. He didn't like it, though, so he quit and he took a part-time job at the apothecary. He also performs juggling and monocycle shows for tips in the streets sometimes. When he does that, he usually paints his face like a clown, with white and gray paint. He often forgets to take it off, so most of the time, he walks around in his face-paint.

Gamzee doesn't really have an opinion on the current war situation. He doesn't associate with the Empress' highbloods because he was never taught how the hemospectrum worked back on Alternia. Sometimes he doesn't even seem aware that there is a war situation going on, like his brain can't process what's going on around him. But he tries to help his friends the best he can.

Feferi Peixes

Age: 16 years old

Feferi was raised by a carapace in the richest district of Derse. Back on Alternia, she would have been part of those who considered themselves the royalty, the sea dwellers. She would have been in the same tribe the Condesce was from. She didn’t seek to spend time with highbloods specifically or to be taught how life was on Alternia. She was completely in peace with living on Derse. Feferi always has been a kind troll who liked to spend time with any living being, may they be humans, carapaces or trolls.

She grew up with Eridan who lived in the same district as her. They went to the same school and Feferi quickly noticed that Eridan was always left out. She was the kind of person who wanted everyone to be happy. That’s how they became friend. They had a close relationship and soon became moirails. Feferi wasn’t one to be shy or to have difficulties making new friends. While her moirail was always alone, she was exploring Dese and making lots of new friends. She met a troll from the lower district, Sollux, with whom she likes to spend time.

When the Condesce started recruiting highbloods for her coup d’état, she came to see Feferi and asked her to join. Feferi declined the invitation, qualifying the Condesce’s action as out-dated and barbaric. The Condesce, instead of being mad, told her that she would, in time, change her mind, and left.

Feferi had a fight with Eridan when they talked about the troll uprising. Feferi was infuriated with Eridan’s opinion and he was mad at her for refusing the Condesce’s invitation. In the heat of the fight, Feferi severed their link of moirallegiance.

After the Condesce took the control of Derse, she came back to Feferi and announced her that she was to be the new Princess. Feferi was not happy with this but she didn’t have a choice; she knew what happened to those who resisted the Condesce. She therefore plays along with the Condesce but she wishes to help the rebellion.

Eridan Ampora

Age: 16 years old

He was, like Feferi, raised in the richest district of Derse. They grew up together and have been moirails since childhood. A little lower than her on the hemospectrum, Eridan was still part of the sea dwellers. He was different from Feferi, who liked her life as it was. Eridan spent a lot of time with the remaining sea dwellers and took a liking to their stories. In fact, the nostalgia of Alternia’s grandeur was the only thing Eridan could think of, after a while. He was fascinated by the stories about his ancestors, who were legendary conquerors back on Alternia. When he was a kid, he liked to roleplay the stories the sea dwellers told him. Eridan, like the older highbloods, was never able to adapt on Derse. He developed a vivid hate towards humans, carapaces and lowbloods.

When he was younger, during his school years, he tried to make friends but failed, for unknown reasons. These failures made him bitter. The only person who he was able to befriend was Feferi. They attended the same school in the high district; Feferi was always nice to him and came to him when he was alone. Eridan started wishing really early that they could move in the red quadrant together.

When the Condesce came to him, he joined her army without hesitation. Feferi’s refusal made him mad and, even though he would not admit it, quite sad. They had a violent fight during which Feferi ended their moirallegiance.

Eridan was desperate: on that day, he meant to ask Feferi to be his matepsrit. He ran from his district and ended up in the slums where he destroyed things in the junk yard. Even though he was steaming mad at Feferi for not grasping the importance of the hemospectrum, he was still desperately in love with her. That dilemma almost led him to reconsider his positions. He would have probably changed his mind if he hadn’t met the Condesce that day. She saw his distress and took advantage of it by making him talk. Eridan told her his problem with Feferi; the Condesce promised him that once she ruled over Derse, she would make him the new Prince and Feferi the Princess, thus securing Eridan’s faithfulness.

Now, with the Condesce as the ruler of Derse, Eridan lives on the moon. However, his relationship with Feferi is far from fixed. Even if the Prince is supposed to be an accessory, Eridan is really interested in being part of the great conquest. He might take an active role in the army.

Sollux Captor

Age: 16 years old

He grew up in the low district in the same area as Aradia. Back on Alternia, Sollux would have been part of the Psiionics clan. Therefore, he is gifted with the power of telekinesis. He also possesses the vision twofold which allows him to see the future and the present. He has often prophesised the end of the world (which might prove true with the Condesce’s ruling Derse). He also hears the voice of dead trolls from Alternia.

All in all, Sollux was a pretty strange kid, even for a troll; that made most of the neighbours uneasy. To make things worse, Sollux had always been pretty introverted and refused to play with other trolls. His bipolar disorder didn’t help him make friends either; his mood swings made uneasy even the most courageous kids. He met Aradia at school. At first, he had no interest in her. He soon found out Aradia had psychic powers too. Although Sollux would not have admited it, he enjoyed Aradia’s presence. He was happy to find someone who understood what it felt like to constantly hear dead people in your head. He also became friend with Feferi, a troll he met randomly when she was exploring the low district.

Sollux’s guardian was a repairman in the army. He accepted to take a troll with him because he needed the money. He was the kind of carapaces who liked to have a normal life. Therefore, when he found out Sollux had psychic powers, he freaked out. It happened when Sollux was still young, about three years old. He was throwing a tantrum and ended up accidentally destroying half of the house with the energy beams coming out of his eyes. The carapace was truly furious and had been since then, treating Sollux harshly.

Their relationship has been strained and never healed. Sollux was resentful toward his guardian and in his worst mood swings at eight years old, he found a way to take revenge on him. The carapace often brought home pieces of machines to work on them after work. When his guardian was sleeping, Sollux would sneak in the workshop and attempt to sabotage the work in progress. He revelled quite skilled at hacking the machines; cutting a wire here, connecting another one there, adding or removing a chip... His work was so discrete his guardian never found out. But the quality of his work went down dramatically. All it did was prevent the machine from working.

After a few years at playing this game, Sollux made his hacking more intense. The army superiors weren’t happy to see their machines explode. They quickly found the common denominator to all these malfunctions. Sollux’s guardian was found guilty and was fired. At thirteen years old, Sollux decided to move out. His guardian didn’t stop him. Sollux found an apartment not far from his old house. There, he kept working on his hacking skills.

The Condesce’s coup d’état affected him like any other lowblood; he was forced into hiding because of the highbloods’ violence. In fact, it affected him even more: his abilities made him a choice target for the new army. They wanted to enslave psiionics and use them as weapons. Sollux joined the rebellion against the Empress.

Aradia Megido

Age: 16 years old

Aradia’s guardian was a carapace from the low district who was fascinated with troll culture. When he heard about the conquest of a new planet, he was immediately fascinated and took every chance he had to learn more. When the trolls were brought back on Derse, he volunteered to take care of a young troll. That way, he had reasons to talk to older trolls and learn about their culture.

As a result of this immersion, Aradia developed a passion for everything related to Alternia. It wasn’t nostalgia like some grownup trolls; it was more of a scientific fascination. She went to school like all the trolls her age and learned the skaian language. She had no problem being part of that society. However, her interest in her ancient civilisation was genuine.

When she was 8 years old, she convinced an old troll to teach her the alternian writing system. Her guardian was really excited about it, no troll ever accepted to teach him; so when Aradia came home after her lessons, she would teach him what she learned.

Aradia also had a strange connexion with Alternia. She was really secretive about it but she sometimes heard voices in her head. After growing up a little, she understood that they were the voices of dead trolls, some who had lived thousands of years ago, on her home planet.

That particularity led to a strange fascination in death. Aradia was often found wandering in the dersite cemetery. Most carapaces thought she was spooky and avoided her. Despite this weird fascination, Aradia was still a friendly person and made friends with lots of trolls on Derse. The one she was the closest to was Sollux who lived near her house. They attended the same school, that’s where they met the first time. They quickly found out that they shared the same kind of psychic powers. They bounded over the fact that they both heard the voices of dead trolls. Aradia was the only person who believed Sollux when he predicted the end of the world.

She is aware that she has a stalker. In fact, she knew it since the first day, when he was hiding behind a tree in the cemetery. Her strong extrasensorial perceptions, she detected the presence of another troll in a close range. She decided to let him be; she would have considered him as dangerous if he had approached her. After that day, she caught glimpses of the highblood in the street near her house. They have never talked to each other.

With the Condesce and highbloods ruling Derse, Aradia is part of the main target. She had always been aware that she was a lowblood but it really didn’t bother her. Most of the time, her blood color didn’t matter; carapaces didn’t care about this stuff. Her troll friends didn’t care either. And Aradia knew better than to be offended when older trolls insulted her. However, now that highbloods are allowed to arbitrarily kill other troll, she must be more careful.

Aradia is part of the dersite rebellion led by Dirk. Her knowledge of the ancient troll culture might revel really important. To understand the Condesce, you have to know the stakes of alternian life before the conquest.

Nepeta Leijon

Age: 16 years old

She grew up in the low district of Derse. She went to an average school in her district. She has always been nice and cute and liked to play with other trolls and with carapaces. She became aware of one troll who was left alone because of his unnatural strength. She decided to become his friend no matter what and started going to his house every day, forcing him to play with her... Forcing him in a non literal way because she was no match with his strength. However, she was determined and stayed in front of his door for hours when he refused to play with her. After a while, they became moirails, a link they still have today. Lately, she tries to convince Equius to talk to his crush.

Nepeta had a calm life. She was not really interested in her home planet but she would listen to Equius when he talked about it. She was not nostalgic like him; she liked Derse and felt happy to live there.

When she was younger, she liked to invent characters and impersonate them. In fact, that hobby of role playing is something she still likes to do, even now that she is older. She also likes to draw and paint. The only thing of Alternian culture she really takes interest in is the romantic quadrants. For trolls, they are innate. However, Nepeta asked older trolls to explain to her the signification they had on Alternia. She has a curious interest in pairing people. She had, on a wall of her room, pictures she drew of her friends depicting their possible relationships.

When the Condesce took the control of Derse, Nepeta had to keep a low profile. Being a low blood, she was sure to be targeted by the high bloods. A month passed with the Empress ruling Derse. Her moirail made her strap-on claws with iron so she could defend herself against attackers.

One day when Nepeta was out of her house to get food, she found a white carapace who was known by everyone as a mail lady. She was harassed by a lone agent, trying to arrest her. Nepeta fearlessly attacked the agent with her claws. She was lucky enough to take him by surprise; he didn’t have the chance to fight back and hit his head on a wall, falling unconscious. Nepeta urged PM to follow her and they hid in the troll’s house.

PM was grateful to Nepeta for saving her. She was in possession of important documents she had to give to a troll on Derse. The mail lady said the sender, a troll from Prospit, asked her to give these letters to any troll who would prove as trustworthy and fighting for good. Nepeta read the letters carefully. They were from a troll named Karkat who wanted to help the trolls of Derse fight against the Condesce’s tyranny and the equality of all trolls, no matter what color their blood was. Nepeta immediately took a liking to that Karkat fellow and insisted that PM brought him a letter for her. When she saw PM come back with another letter, she was ecstatic. She started spreading Karkat’s and dreamt of the day she would finally meet him.

She also gave the letter to Equius who handed it to Dirk, leading to communication between the two leaders.

TAKEN! => Character sheet

The Condesce

Age: Unknown, but most likely a few centuries old; by human standards, she looks like she is in her mid-twenties.

The Condesce grew up on Alternia in a tribe of sea dwellers (purple blood). The tyrian purple blood running through her veins was the pride of her tribe. They considered themselves as Alternia’s royalty and acted accordingly. Most of the time, they stayed underwater; they had no desire to mingle with the land dwellers. Once in a while, they engaged in killing sprees to prove their superiority. They came back on land and killed every troll that was on their route, just for the sake of doing so. The Condesces’s lusus was Gl'bgolyb, the undersea monster with whom she threatened to murder every land dwellers. She never did thought; the sea dwellers needed people to rule.

Sixteen years ago, a troll was born with the exact blood color the Condesce had. No other lusus could take her but Gl'bgolyb, who was the only monster available for that blood color. Two trolls sharing a lusus was something amazingly rare on Alternia. It was only seen in clans of sea dwellers and highbloods who were granted with longer life spans. The Condesce was not the type to dwell on futile events. However, the baby troll named Feferi caught her interest. She was to become the next Empress and the Condesce had the design to form her accordingly.

The year Derse and Prospit came on Alternia was a nightmare for the Condesce and her clan. They didn’t want to ally forces with the land dwellers. However, they had no choice; if they wanted to save Alternia, all trolls and lusus had to work together.

The first bombings touched the land. But when a bomb killed the Condesce’s lusus, she went berserk and jumped in the fight, killing more Dersites and Prospitians than any trolls on Alternia.

After months of war, the verdict fell; Alternia had been destroyed beyond repair. Most lusus were dead and countless trolls had been killed, reducing the population to about a quarter of what it used to be. The Mother Grub was dead too, which meant there was no hope left for the troll race.

The Condesce regrouped with what was remaining of her clan and other highbloods. When they saw the invaders starting to collect the survivors, the little group vowed to fight them until the end. The dersite troop responsible of collecting them didn’t have it easy. The older trolls attacked the carapaces who eventually had to sedate them. The trolls were taken aboard and brought back on the purple planet.

At first, the Condesce was very hostile to the assimilation process. Like most of the highbloods, she refused to attend the classes made available for the trolls to learn skaian language. After a while, however, she figured out that she had no choice if she wanted to be able to live on this new planet and make the best of the situation.

The Condesce had been placed in an apartment of the low district, a fact that infuriated her even more against her conquerors. It wasn’t long before she started dreaming of making everyone pay for what had happened to her. A plan of taking over Derse soon formed into her mind; but the Condesce lacked intel about this new society. Moreover, she was convinced all the other highbloods would join her but they were far from enough to carry on such a plan.

It took around ten years for the Condesce to find the right allies. She met the Archagent who, like her, was more and more frustrated by the current regime. She used that rage to her advantage and gained a new army. To her, Jack was disposable; she didn’t have any real interest in him but she had to accept his conditions if she wanted the army of agents to help her.

The Condesce added new trolls to her army; she went to younger trolls such as Feferi and Eridan. The latter accepted to join without hesitation but the former was impossible to convince. It seemed like skaian society had corrupted her; she was a peace-loving troll who wasn’t fit to become the next Empress. However, the Condesce didn’t give up on her just yet. She was confident that with proper triggers, the young troll would become a great successor, a proper purple blood. The Condesce also took advantage of Eridan’s love for Feferi to secure his participation in the uprising.

One year ago, after more than a decade of planning, the Condesce, Jack Noir and their army of agents and highbloods took control of Derse. They successfully assaulted the palace which resulted in the execution of the Black King and of the few nobles who objected.

The Condesce had everyone fear her; most humans were terrified and accepted to stay in her court. The army obey her every whim. Within a month, she sent war ships to Prospit to show her hostility. The two kingdoms had been at war since then.

She also sent a secret delegation to Alternia to retrieve the Matriorb from a dead virgin Mother Grub. She keeps the Matriorb locked up in a secret room of the palace. Her hope is to hatch a new Mother Grub to breed new highbloods.

Right now, the Condesce is not aware that a rebellion is forming. However, she’s not naive; she knows the Prince is at large and she is certain that he will try something sooner or later. She has her army of agents and highbloods patrol the streets. Something is certain; when the rebellion starts, she will be ready.
