This mainly is for the magic users of the site, mainly meaning those in the Temples.
I had been thinking of this for a while, and this was originally going to be in Correspondence so it could be like, passing notes or something like that but for now until we/I figure out what is happening it's probably better for it to be in the OOC section. This way non-magic users can also pitch in if they've got ideas/suggestions/critiques for magics!
So what is this and why do we need it?
This is basically a thread to keep the spells your characters commonly use in order because really, between Dersites (and Prospitans on their planet) we've all learned them from the same place didn't we?, so we should all the same spells. We may not exactly need it since everyone has a unique way of doing things and if you have some magical tricks your character learned on their own from practice after leaving the temples then you don't have to put those up, or you could say that it's a private use spell but want to discuss it anyway.
Also with magic there is a tendency, at least on my part, to forget to write limitations on spells until later and have that contradict earlier things I've posted.
It is also to discuss whether certain spells are OP, make limitations and think up ideas for new spells or potions! I mention potions in this also because I figure potions would be more powerful than spells because they have to be prepared and taken in advance and need more exactness. Opinions on this?
For example, a spell that I use a lot is a spell for a floating light.
This light ball can be conjured at any time without any previous prep, though obviously it can be seen easier in the dark than in a lit room. It's about the size of a fist. Cannot be blown out since after all, it is magic.
The light doesn't really have a dimmer, it's just a ball of light about as bright as a 30 watt bulb. It follows the spell caster or can be directed to stay behind or in front or to the side of them in order to hide the light a little it can be shielded by hands or cloth or something.
Created and dismissed by verbal incantation, or can be erased silently by closing one's hand around the ball. While the ball isn't enough to set something on fire it will sting the hand if touched, just like touching an actual lightbulb that's been on for a while will. So turning it off without making noise (technically the wrong way to remove it) has that momentary downside.
