Skaia was just beginning to come into view on their side of the moon, and with it, the starting of a new day. The tired girl yawned shuffled down from her room, one hand on her gown and the other on the railing. True, she was used to being up hours earlier than most of the other girls her age and older, but that didn't mean she was fully functional first thing after washing her face.

When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she let out another yawn and disappeared down a hallway. What did she have to do? Morning prayers, political studies, tutelage from the Head Priestess. She counted off her duties on her fingers, once by one. She could have sworn she was forgetting something however. But what was it? She couldn't for the life of her place it.

Instead of dwelling on it for too much longer, she figured that having a bite to eat would wake her up enough to give her back the idea that continued to escape her sleep-addled mind.

She turned a corner and pressed a hand against the wall. Some of the maidens knew of the secret passages, Jane being one of them. She knew when they built, why, and where they led. Most of them turned to one large tunnel that connected to the cellar in the Palace, and was to be used in states of emergencies, in case something were to happen to the King and Queen and they needed to escape.

But this was years ago. Nothing had happened yet to their Monarchs, so these weren't really in use, and she was pretty sure that the ones leading right to the castle were blocked off so no one could enter through them.

She knew a couple of them, shortcuts really, and used them to her advantage if the occasion called for it. She'd sometimes be able to sneak Jake and John in, or for herself to sneak out and meet up with them. But this was also years ago. She hadn't spoken to either of them much recently. She wondered how they were doing...

She shook her head. Enough dilly-dallying. She walked through the corridors and into the hallway leading to the kitchen. There should be some fruit in there. As she approached, she heard shuffling around inside. Shuffling that sounded very suspicious. She slowly crept up to the door, lifting her dress and tiptoeing to the slightly ajar door, her curiosity and love of mystery piqued.

Did they reorganize the kitchen since the time she had last raided it? This was ridiculous and she was wasting time, time she could ill-afford to lose. Surely she had awaked someone with that pot she'd managed to clumsily knock off the counter. Liza squinted in the half darkness, the light of her one candle not being enough to really see anything by. She had to grab some provisions in case it took longer than she expected to get food.

Surely a couple missing rolls and fruits wouldn't be felt harshly. These temple girls had never gone hungry unless they were sent to be without dinner for misbehaving - a punishment Liza was well familiar with - and even then. Almost all came from noble families, of course they had a privilage.

Finally locating where some dried fruits were kept Liza grabbed two containers at random and shoved them in her bag without trying to read the lable. Even in full light it was a waste of time trying to make out the words written on it. The one she opened smelled like apples however so it got shoved in with the rest as well. The prospitain fought back a yawn as she straightened and looked around the room again. She had been up already for a few hours and the previous night had taken a long time to fall asleep. Nerves from what she was about to do not letting her get the rest she'd need in order to pull this off.

A creak from the direction of the door caught her attention but Liza didn't dare turn around and show her face. She knew she had to have woken someone up! She blew out the candle and ducked under the counter, glad she had decided to wait with putting on her cloak until after she was out. She pulled the strap of her bag off and looped it around her foot before kicking it under the gap that was under the low cabinets. Please be a false alarm, please be a false alarm!

Jane cursed herself. Despite being as quiet as she could, her dress had snagged on the door and made it creak. But she heard shuffling, and she figured it was one of the girls. No use hiding now.

"Hello?" She poked her head in and noticed it was Liza. She hadn't really been able to talk to her much since she arrived, but even this was a little curious. What a twist!

"Liza? What are you doing up this early?" She asked slowly, stepping inside and clasping her hands in front of her dress. Not many other girls were supposed to be up at this hour, let alone in the kitchen. This was getting curiouser and curiouser with every passing moment. She brushed her bangs out of her eyes, waiting for a reply from the girl.
